Belgian D'Uccle

No need for Sugar

 the sweetest chicken

We breed Mille  Fleur Bantam. The Belgian d’Uccle chicken is one of the sweetest, loveliest and cuddliest pets in the whole wide world. Making excelling pets for children and adults. A perfect entry level bird. These calm birds will add sugar to your every day life. They are calm natured, love your attention and chatty little birds. These are true bantams as they were not bred down from standard sized chickens.
The breed has a low posture, full beard and a muff, a short but well developed neck, body broad and deep. Back very broad, almost hidden by enormous neck hackle. Breast extremely broad, the upper part very developed and carried forward, the lower part resembling a breastplate. Tail well held at a perky angle, almost perpendicular to the body. Legs strong, short and well apart. It has a single comb.
The Belgian d’Uccle Bantam was bred for the first time in the small municipality of Uccle at the southeast border of Brussels, Belgium by Michel Van Gelder, sometime between 1890 and 1900. The ‘d’ in front of d’Uccle means from or of (Uccle). If you happen to be in Belgium, the 'd' is dropped, and they are simply referred to as 'Uccles.
